How to get your Instructor (i) endorsement

To attend our I endorsement course, you must hold a full New Zealand driver Licence for 2 years.

So you want to be a driving instructor?

To teach people how to drive on a road for financial or commercial gain, you must have a current Driving Instructor endorsement on your Driver Licence. This is called an ‘I’ endorsement.

Our ‘I’ endorsement course takes 7-10 days days depending on numbers, and is unit standard based, eight in all; Four of these are full theory classroom requirements (16646, 16647, 14511, 14521) and the remaining four (14523, 20179, 20180, 3466) have practical in-vehicle assessments with a number of assignments to be completed.

What happens next? 

Once your application to attend the course has been accepted, Candrive will supply you with the pre-course reading material prior to the course commencing (Stage 1).

You will need dedicate some time to reading and understanding this (we recommend allowing approximately 20 hours) before starting the course. The Candrive instructor will contact you during this time to make sure you are comfortable with the material and can answer any questions you may have before attending the course.

Stage 2 - you will be required to complete and pass a road code test and a practical driving assessment with Candrive.

Stage 3 - you will then be required to attend the 7-10 day block course.
